Our Dual-Language Advantage

Hebrew language instruction begins in PreK. In grades 1-8, students read Hebrew literature, and develop their conversational Hebrew. Studies show that learning a second language at a young age increases a child’s cognitive abilities. The dual language curriculum enhances our students’ performance in all subject areas.

An optional third language, Spanish, is offered in middle school. Many students find the acquisition of a third language “effortless” after years of Hebrew language instruction. The Judaic curriculum teaches students to appreciate Jewish culture.

Our entire program instills in our children a respect for the many ways in which Judaism is practiced and understood. JDS students learn history and discuss present day issues concerning Israel. Jewish values, texts, traditions, music, holidays, the importance of Klal Yisrael (the Jewish people), and the larger community are woven into daily activities.
