Why Give?

Upon three things the world stands:
Upon Torah
Upon Prayer, and
Upon acts of loving kindness

These words from Pirke Avot, the Ethics of Our Fathers, embody the heart and soul of Judaism. It is not enough to study and to pray. Without righteous actions, the world cannot exist.

We all understand the importance of the commandment of Tzedakah - righteousness. But beyond the religious imperative we also know that doing right just feels right. Knowing we can make a difference in someone’s life is a fervent motivating force. And being able, through acts of tzedakah, to help educate children at the Jewish Day School in the loving words of Pirke Avot is indeed very rewarding.

There are so many ways to contribute to the wonderful work done at the JDS
