Volunteering Time
Tzedakah is closely related to gemilut chasadim – acts of loving-kindness. These actions go beyond financial gifts and include donating one’s time and energy to helping others.
The Jewish Day School provides many fun opportunities to get involved in school activities.
Volunteers are always needed and appreciated at PTO-sponsored events throughout the year such as the Back-to-School Barbeque and the spring Field Day. Come man (or woman!) the grills, dole out Rita’s ices or help kids in and out of the Moon Bounce.
PTO is always looking for staffers at their Book Fairs.
Volunteers are also welcomed in the cafeteria to help serve the students at lunchtime.
Being part of a committee, whether for a PTO fundraiser of a school project is a great way to stay involved and be a part of the children’s lives while helping out in a much needed capacity.
Girls on the Run is an international, non-profit program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. The JDS is proud to have implemented this program, and this is also a great volunteer opportunity.

Author and teacher Yaakov Astor said, “An act of true kindness is like toppling the first domino; it sets up a chain reaction of good will that transcends the physical act itself.”
We thank you for your kindness.
