Academic Excellence
The education that students receive at the Jewish Day School of the Lehigh Valley is nothing less than stellar. We have high expectations of our students and our teachers challenge our students to reach their potential. We realize that each individual student has their own needs and we strive to meet those needs. Our academic accomplishments are proof of this school-wide effort.
Students in grades three through eight are given the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) tests using the CTP4 (Comprehensive Testing Program 4) exams. By way of background, the ERB designs national standardized achievement tests for high-achieving schools. These tests are rigorous and analyze students' abilities relating to mathematics, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing mechanics, writing concepts, writing skills and quantitative reasoning. The CTP4 provides the most norm comparisons of any achievement assessment. Students' scores are compared by National Norms, Suburban Public School Norms, Independent School Norms, Association Norms, and Local Norms.
The Jewish Day School of the Lehigh Valley is proud of our academic accomplishments as measured by the ERB exams. During the past four years, our JDS students have consistently ranked in the 90th percentile and above - a feat that makes us one of the top private elementary schools in the country based on academic performance!
Middle School Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth, if they meet qualifications. Historically, each year we have several seventh and eighth graders qualify to take the SAT's. with results that out perform their peers in eleventh and twelfth grade in high school.
For families that plan to send their child to a Hebrew High School or Yeshiva, we also offer to administer locally the BJE High School Entrance Exam.
